OUR TEAM
Hernández-Bauzá PSC, Architects is one of few Firms in Puerto Rico 100% owned by a woman architect fully qualifying as a WBE. Another characteristic that sets us apart from other design firms is our personal way of dealing with clients stressing availability and oriented to constant project / client servicing.

For the past twenty years our office has been successfully working with different types and magnitude public and private projects. The design of educational facilities and residential projects have become an area of expertise. Our dedication and knowledge of HUD Standards, ADA Regulations, codes and local government procedures have been put to the test in these and many other projects.
​
As we are not a large firm, quality work is not a direct attribute of Firm size in this industry. Our policy is not to take more than we can handle to provide consistent high quality services in which as Principal, I am always directly involved with the project.

At present we have the experience, capability and resources to perform, together with our consultants, a variety of different design and during construction services. I personally take as an important part of our services, keeping quality control and coordinating all the different trades required for the projects.

Graduated from University of Puerto Rico, Architect and Principal Istra Hernández first large assignments were the design and services during construction of two important educational projects, the Metropolitan Campus and the Arecibo Campus of Interamerican University. The work in complex educational projects continued when the Public Buildings Authority awarded H-B the design / supervision of the Police Academy in Gurabo.

For more than 30 years in the practice of Architecture her mission has always been: “To provide a creative and efficient design and facilitate construction of projects that will transform and support economic opportunity and improve the quality of life for all citizens in Puerto Rico.”
